Three years after retiring, former Manchester City and Argentina player Sergio Aguero filed a €3 million (£2.5 million) lawsuit against Barcelona.
The Argentine forward’s cardiac issue forced him to terminate his professional career early in December 2021. He had only moved from Manchester City to Barcelona six months prior to the 2021–2022 season, but his time with the Catalan giants was cut short due to medical issues.
It appeared like the player and the team had a cordial relationship when he announced his retirement, but a new claim from Mundo Desportivo indicates that the 36-year-old has allegedly requested €3 million from the Catalan team.
The report also states that on June 21, 2024, the two parties entered into a conciliation act, and as a result, the case is currently under review by a social court. The club is still adamant that they do not have a formal record of the claim.
After the international break, Hansi Flick’s team will play Sevilla on October 20. At the moment, they have a three-point advantage over bitter rivals Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga standings.
