Following a rigorous crackdown on ticket touts at Anfield, Liverpool has permanently blacklisted 75 supporters.
With more than 5,000 more accounts presently being investigated and more than 1,500 tickets revoked, Liverpool has reaffirmed their dedication to safeguarding legitimate fans and combating illegal ticket resale. This policy is in line with recent league-wide alerts that warned supporters of all 20 Premier League teams about possible scams as the 2024–25 season got underway.
This season, Liverpool has made investments in sophisticated “anti-touting measures” to combat ticket touting, including more in-person surveillance and online technologies. Liverpool has increased efforts to fight online ticket scams and digital fraud as part of the campaign, blocking around 100,000 phony accounts. The Reds have also emphasized the significance of purchasing tickets exclusively through authorized methods and avoiding falling for counterfeit ticket scams in order to provide supporters with clarity.
Liverpool’s tough attitude is in line with a larger pattern among Premier League teams, as Arsenal has also taken steps to stop illegal ticket sales. Significant action was taken by Arsenal in July when they banned a number of supporters for allegedly selling tickets to opposition supporters for their Champions League match against Bayern Munich. Arsenal has been closely monitoring attendance and tickets transactions and has banned thousands of players over the summer due to claims of touting.
The Standard further claims that Arsenal has taken away 24 season tickets from supporters who failed to publish their tickets on the official exchange site or who did not show up for at least 17 of the 22 home games. Specialized anti-bot technology has been added to Arsenal’s ballot system to improve the process’s fairness for real supporters.
Ahead of the 2023–24 season, Liverpool implemented a new ballot method to help supporters obtain authentic tickets, focusing on local general sales and Members’ sales. The goal of this change was to improve the fairness of the ticket distribution procedure, especially for local supporters who want to go to Anfield games. The next game for Arne Slot’s team is against Brighton on Saturday at Anfield.
