United won in Van Nistelrooy’s first game in the Old Trafford dugout thanks to goals from Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Alejandro Garnacho. When the Sporting CP coach completes his contract to succeed Ten Hag, Ruben Amorim is expected to replace the Dutchman in the upcoming weeks.
Van Nistelrooy stated in an interview with Sky Sports: “I must admit that we also had some luck. I am really pleased for Casemiro, [Alejandro] Garnacho, and Bruno [Fernandes].” We produced a lot of chances against West Ham and Fenerbahce but were unable to complete them, resulting in five goals. It was a fantastic night since we suddenly had some luck on our side.
“The target is always the one who responds and attacks. The players deserve praise for their outstanding response to Leicester’s goals. I’m thrilled that everyone goes home contented.
Although negotiations with Sporting CP are still underway, Van Nistelrooy is now anticipated to be in the dugout at Old Trafford on Sunday. United had hoped to have Amorim in command by their next Premier League match against Chelsea this weekend.
