According to Nana Oduro Sarf, a member of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Executive Council, Premier League teams do not profit monetarily from the league’s television broadcasts.
Due to a breach of their contractual responsibilities, the GFA and its previous broadcaster, StarTimes, severed ways after the 2023–2024 season.
The Ghana Premier League is currently shown on Metro TV, NET2 TV, AFA Sports, Original TV, and Globe TV.
Sarfo did, however, disclose that the money made from these broadcasts is not enough to sustain the clubs financially.
He mentioned that the GFA has called a conference to discuss methods to increase revenue, especially to help struggling teams.
“The Ghana Premier League’s current TV broadcasts do not bring in any money for the league’s clubs. He told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, “There is an EXCO meeting scheduled for Tuesday to explore possible financial solutions for clubs.”
Sports fans and commentators, on the other hand, are worried about the subpar television coverage since they feel it lessens the viewing attraction of the games.
