Majeed Ashimeru, a midfielder with the Black Stars, adds, “I have been waiting to work with Otto Addo.”

Majeed Ashimeru, a midfielder for Ghana, has talked candidly about his time as an Otto Addo player.

After making his debut for his country in a 2021 match against South Africa, Ashimeru was forced to wait two years to play for the Black Stars again.

Nevertheless, the former WAFA midfielder has emerged as a vital member of the national squad since late 2023, starting eight of the previous twelve games.

Against Angola and Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, he made his debut under Otto Addo.

Ashimeru discussed his excitement for the team’s future as well as his ambitions for working with the former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach in an interview with Flashscore.com.

I’ve been looking forward to working with Otto Addo for a very long time. After spending some time working with him, I can say that he is a good coach and that we have a lot of goals to accomplish together. Working with him is satisfying,” he continued.

After a challenging start, Otto Addo, who was reappointed in March on a 34-month contract with a 24-month extension option, will look to earn his first victory in the AFCON qualifiers when the Black Stars play Sudan back-to-back next month.
