After scoring his second goal in the Europa League, Ghanaian rookie Michael Baidoo maintained his scorching form in Europe.
The center midfielder, who debuted for the Black Stars against Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier earlier this month, scored from the penalty spot as the Swedes lost to Galatasaray 4-3 in Turkey.
Before being substituted by Emil Holten in the 82nd minute, Baidoo scored to cut the deficit to 3-2 and gave Elfsborg a lifeline.
Yunus Akgün gave Galatasaray a two-goal lead a minute after they had left the field.
The Turkish powerhouses dominated the first half, taking a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Baris Yilmaz, Isak Patterson (own goal), and Mauro Icardi.
Niklas Hult gave the visitors a response after the interval, but Baidoo’s goal in the 65th minute made it 3-2.
Before Johan Larsson’s late consolation, Akgun extended Galatasaray’s lead.
This season, Baidoo has scored 15 goals for the Swedish team in all competitions.
