Ahead of the pivotal 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan, Fenerbahce defender Alexander Djiku and seven other players have reported to Black Stars camp in Accra.
The camp now has 19 players, with six more due to join shortly. Tariq Lamptey, Alidu Seidu, Ernest Nuamah, Majeed Ashimeru, Lawrence Ati Zigi, Jerome Opoku, and Abdul Mumin joined Djiku.
The team began the camping with 11 players for the first session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday evening.
By Tuesday, the Black Stars technical staff anticipates that all of the players—including those who were called up at the last minute—will have completed the roster.
The opening leg of the AFCON qualifiers between Ghana and Sudan takes place on Thursday, October 10, at Accra Sports Stadium. The second match is scheduled for October 14, at Martyrs of February Stadium.
Otto Addo and his team will be looking to earn as many points as possible in these back-to-back games to maintain their hopes of qualifying for the AFCON after a dismal start to their season, having only managed one point from two games.
The squad is working hard to get ready for these important games, and training continues today at 4:30 p.m.
Fans will not be permitted to watch the training sessions today and tomorrow.
