Ibrahima Konate disclosed the harsh team talk given by Liverpool manager Arne Slot during halftime, which motivated the Reds to defeat Wolves.
Liverpool had trouble establishing their customary domination in the first half and was under siege from a strong Wolves team. The home team produced multiple dangerous opportunities, and the Reds appeared to be moving slowly and applying little pressure.
Konate gave Liverpool the lead in extra time just before the half whistle, against the flow of the game. It did not, however, conceal the fact that the team was well below par, and Slot was very explicit in his directives to make his point plain.
“The team struggled greatly in the first half because we were moving slowly,” Konate acknowledged.
“We need to be more focused and aggressive when we begin pressing,” the manager stated at halftime. I believe that in the first fifteen minutes of the second half, we played well, but after that, it was a major struggle once more. However, this was to be expected; we must remember this and find out what we were unaware of.”
The Reds were left surprised and on the defense once more just after the break as Rayan Ait-Nouri took advantage of a defensive blunder by Konate and goalkeeper Alisson Becker to slide home an equalizer. However, Salah scored from the penalty spot a few minutes later to give the Merseyside club all three points
