After Marseille defeated Lyon in a thrilling match to take the lead in Ligue 1, Mason Greenwood and his teammates celebrated passionately.
With 13 points from five games, Roberto De Zerbi’s team is still unbeaten in the top division of France. They are now level with Monaco and the reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain in what is sure to be an exciting title fight after their comeback.
Rayan Cherki’s equalizer in the 93rd minute gave Marseille the appearance of having wasted two points, but Jonathan Rowe’s goal two minutes later sealed a 3-2 victory. Greenwood was observed beating his fist on a table during the raucous festivities that took place in the dressing area.
To make things a little bit easier for themselves, Marseille needs to break the practice of having a player sent off in each of their previous two games. They’ll be back in action when they travel to Strasbourg the following Saturday.
