Josko Gvardiol, the Croatian defender for Manchester City, has identified Mohammed Kudus, an offensive midfielder from Ghana, as the most formidable opponent he has encountered in the English Premier League.
Both Gvardiol and Kudus made an impression with their nations at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and they both traveled to England during the same summer. With two goals and an assist, Kudus was Ghana’s best player at the tournament; the City star helped Croatia finish third in Qatar.
The two have played each other several times while in England, and although City has won both encounters, Gvardiol struggled to contain Kudus.
“My hardest opponent was Muhammad Kudus from West Ham,” Gvardiol stated in a podcast interview.
“He was on the bench in the first game, and he was on my side when he entered for the final twenty minutes. He was pretty good, I realized. He was deft with the ball and has a keen appearance. He even managed to score a bicycle kick in the season’s second matchup’
Despite West Ham’s 3-1 loss at the London Olympic Stadium on Saturday, Kudus had another strong performance against the Citizens.
