In anticipation of their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup opening, the Black Princesses have received accolades from coach Yussif Basigi for their remarkable adjustment to the altitude in Colombia.
“The players are performing very well to training, and I have been very pleased by their effectiveness,” Basigi stated.
“We had significant difficulties with altitude when we first got to Colombia. The players had some difficulty at first, but they got used to it and were OK within a week.”
After arriving in Colombia on August 14, the Black Princesses played two important friendly, drawing 0-0 and 2-2 with Mexico.
Their preparation for the competition has been excellent thanks to these games and their adaptation to the local environment.
He mentioned that the team’s recent friendlies showed how they had adjusted. In addition, Basigi noted, “We played the friendlies and they showed real readiness,” stressing their enhanced adaptability and performance.
As they look to bounce back from their previous group stage exits and get off to a solid start in their seventh consecutive World Cup campaign, the team’s improved form and tenacity are encouraging.
