Noni Madueke, a winger for Chelsea, expressed regret for his harsh remarks against Wolverhampton following his hat-trick in a 6-2 thumping of the Wolves.
The 22-year-old received a cold reaction from the home crowd on Sunday when he posted a comment on Instagram claiming that Wolverhampton is “sh*t” in advance of Chelsea’s Premier League visit to Molineux Stadium.
He said to Premier League Productions, “I just want to apologise to everyone that I might have offended.” “It’s just an accident—a human error. That was never intended to be shared on my social media accounts. I apologize; I’m sure Wolverhampton is a pleasant town. I kind of expected the boos, but that’s just part of the experience. That kind of pressure is something you have to be able to handle.”
In his post-match press conference, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca also addressed Madueke’s contentious remarks on social media, saying: “I think people are mature enough to know what is correct and what is not correct. I trust people.” Noni is old enough to know the difference between right and wrong.”
Madueke won’t have to stay in Wolverhampton for very long because Chelsea is returning to London in order to get ready for their upcoming match, which is the second leg of their Conference League qualification match against Servette of Switzerland.
