The English defender did not play the whole ninety minutes, despite looking brilliant with his passes and making a vital block to stop a Fulham counterattack.
In the 81st minute, Ten Hag made the decision to change Jonny Evans for the defense. The manager denied that Maguire was hurt as he gave reporters an explanation for his choice. With a goal in his Red Devils debut, Joshua Zirkzee helped the team defeat Marco Silva’s team 1-0.
“Not injured, but I had to bring him off because he had a problem,” the Dutch coach stated in an interview with media following the game. In order to take [a] precaution before he is hurt. Of course, the victory is crucial, but I’m also really relieved that there were no injuries today.
After starting their Premier League campaign with three points, United’s players will be feeling quite positive. Their next game is an away match against Brighton on August 24.
