Elisha Owusu talks about playing for Ghana and sharing a pitch with Andre Ayew.

Elisha Owusu, a midfielder for Auxerre, considers his opportunity to represent Ghana internationally a gift.

Owusu, who was born in France to Ghanaian parents, competed for Europe in youth competitions before opting to change his nationality.

The former Olympique Lyonnais player represented Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast and the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

I’m thrilled to be heading overseas for work. I used to have a childhood desire of representing my country in sports. I view it as a boon,” he said to Flashscore.

Owusu looked up to Black Stars captain Andre Ayew and Kevin-Prince Boateng as a child. He ultimately shared the field with the former Marseille player, referring to him as a “big big” man in France.

Andre Ayew is the “big big” man in France, which is another reason. It was a great honor for me to be able to play with him on the national team,” he continued.
