In the Serbian Super Liga, Ibrahim Zubairu, a former Ghana youth international, scored his first goal for FK Partizan Belgrade in a closely contested encounter against OFK Beograd.
At the Stadion Omladinski on Sunday, Partizan Belgrade was defeated 3-2 despite Zubairu’s best efforts.
In the 40th minute, Zubairu scored a well-placed strike to give Partizan the lead again, displaying the offensive skill he honed at King Faisal Babes FC.
Aleksandar Filipovic gave Partizan the lead in the fifteenth minute, but three minutes later, OFK’s Ghanaian international forward Samuel Owusu tied the score.
But late goals from Aleksandar Palocevic and Filip Stojilkovic for OFK in the second half reversed the tide of the contest, giving them a crucial victory and a boost up to third place in the rankings with 16 points from eight games.
Ebenezer Annan, a defender from Ghana, and Edmund Addo, a midfielder for OFK, played with complete control throughout the game.
After spending €500,000 this summer to join Partizan from FK Jedinstvo Ub, Zubairu has made four appearances in the Serbian Super Liga, netting one goal and one assist.
