Diogo Dalot, a full-back for Manchester United, has received a lot of backlash on social media for his amazing miss during the Red Devils’ game against West Ham.
In the first half of Manchester United’s match against West Ham at the London Stadium, Dalot missed a golden opportunity, leaving his teammates in disbelief. Bruno Fernandes played the Portuguese full-back through on goal, and he flicked the ball over the goalie before somehow blazing it over the bar with the net gaping. Social media was ablaze with reactions to the embarrassing incident, with some even accusing Dalot of conspiring against his manager Erik ten Hag.
Dalot wants ETH out, according to one fan, @CasaDupre, who thinks the defender is deliberately working to have head coach Ten Hag fired. “Really, really.”
@StokeyyG2 agreed, sharing a photo of the legendary Steven Gerrard of Liverpool missing a penalty after looking at Roy Hodgson, the previous manager. He stated: “Diogo Dalot missing that open goal on purpose to get Ten Hag sacked.”
The well-known YouTuber @markgoldbridge was astonished. He wrote in his post: “WTF, Dalot! You can’t miss that.
The attempt infuriated @UtdEIIis, who remarked, “Dalot that is f*cking criminal.”
“Miss of the season from Dalot,” wrote @samuelluckhurst, a journalist for the Manchester Evening News. The supporters of West Ham are celebrating. He had an empty net and balloons the ball over after running onto a long ball and knocking it past Fabianski.
Dalot’s blunder brought to expose the lack of quality that has been Manchester United’s current issue under Ten Hag. Although the Red Devils scored well over 1.50xG in their game against West Ham, their forwards don’t seem to be able to score. The Red Devils had only scored seven goals before to the Hammers match, which is the same number of goals Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood has scored this season alone.
Ten Hag is under increased pressure to encourage his squad to improve if he hopes to remain the top manager at Old Trafford after United lost 2-1 to West Ham. United will return to action on Tuesday night when they play Leicester at home in the League Cup’s fourth round.
