In preparation for the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League in 2024–2025, fifty-seven referees from the Northern and Southern zones have finished the required fitness test at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram.
As required by FIFA, the group, which consists of 27 center referees and 30 assistant referees, has completed weekly video tests and sporadic written examinations on the Laws of the Game (LOTG).
Referee Manager Alex Kotey oversaw the instruction, assisted by Referee Instructors Louisa Amanor and Delight Alobu. Important officiating topics were discussed in the workshops, such as positioning, tactical fouls, offside management, and recent rule changes.
We went over the amendments, proper stance and reading, tactical fouls, and off-side management with them. They have demonstrated that they will put what we have taught them into practice by passing written exams and other assessments. Instructor Louisa Amanor told ghanafa.org, “So far, all the lessons that FIFA expects us to lecture have been covered, and from our assessment, all of them are fit for the work ahead.”
The Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League for 2024–2025 is slated to begin in both the Northern and Southern zones on Friday, October 18, and Monday, October 21, 2024.
