After having trouble at Ajax, former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson may return to England in the January transfer window.
The 34-year-old finished his transfer from Liverpool to Al-Ettifaq, who are coached by Steven Gerrard, in the wealthy Saudi Pro League last summer. But he only stayed in the Middle East for six months before unilaterally ending his contract and moving back to Europe with Ajax.
According to The Sun, Henderson may depart the Dutch powerhouses after just a single season because he is finding it difficult to establish himself. A few Premier League teams are reportedly aware of the England international’s predicament, but a number of elite Championship teams are also eager to sign him.
The midfield player’s departure from the Saudi Pro League earlier this year sparked rumors that tax concerns would impede his return to England. According to The Sun, these issues might resurface if he moves back to his own country from the Netherlands.
The seasoned English player might be seen in action the following Sunday when Ajax hosts Groningen in a crucial Eredivisie match
