Ernest Nuamah’s recent injury is likely to keep him out of Ghana’s next games during the AFCON 2025 Qualifiers.

Due to an injury he had during a recent Ligue 1 encounter, Black Stars winger Ernest Nuamah would probably miss the first two games of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

When Nuamah sustained an injury while representing Olympique Lyon against AS Monaco, he was forced to leave the field in the eighteenth minute, and Georges Mikautadze took his place.

Sadly, Lyon lost the game 2-0, which made things worse for them and kept them pointless at the bottom of the league standings.

The Black Stars are hurting at a crucial moment as they get ready for two big qualifiers in early September.

Ghana’s next planned games are against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on September 5 and Niger in Berkane, Morocco on September 9.

One of Ghana’s most talented wingers, Nuamah’s absence might be a major setback to the team’s hopes of getting off to a fast start in the qualifiers.

Given Nuamah’s injury, head coach Otto Addo—who has already sent his team list to Ghana’s football regulatory body, the Executive Council—will need to reconsider his game strategy.

In spite of this loss, Addo is anticipated to have a formidable squad in an effort to build on their previous achievements, which included back-to-back triumphs over Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament.

In order to qualify for the competition, which would take place in Morocco the following year, Ghana will have to perform to the best of their abilities.
