Daniel Agyei, an English-born Ghanaian attacker, played a key role in Leyton Orient’s convincing 4-1 EFL Cup victory over Newport County on Tuesday night.
Agyei made an immediate impression on the game, scoring with a neat left-footed effort from the center of the box only one minute in thanks to a well-placed assist from Jayden Sweeney.
Agyei started the game at the Gaughan Group Stadium and played for fifty-nine minutes before coming off the field.
In the seventh minute of first-half stoppage time, Diallang Jaiyesimi doubled their advantage, demonstrating Leyton’s dominance throughout the match.
In the 51st and 74th minutes, respectively, Charlie Kelman and Brandon Cooper scored their third and fourth goals to complete the win.
James Clarke was Newport’s sole scorer, finding the net in the 61st minute.
Leyton’s confidence is boosted by the victory, which also raises their record against Newport to 7 wins, 4 loses, and 3 ties.
The team’s attention is now turned to their League One match against Charlton Athletic the following weekend as they celebrate their victory.
